C.I.D. is an Indian television series airs on Sony Entertainment Television. The series is about a team of detectives belonging to the Crime Investigation Division of the Mumbai Police. It stars Shivaji Satam, the noted film & television actor. The series is regarded as the longest running crime investigation TV series in India. The first thrilling investigative series on Indian Television, is today one of the most popular shows on Sony Entertainment Television. Dramatic and absolutely unpredictable, C.I.D. has captivated viewers over the last 12 years and continues to keep audiences glued to their television sets with its thrilling plots and excitement. Also interwoven in its fast paced plots are the personal challenges that the C.I.D. team faces with non-stop adventure, tremendous pressure and risk, all in the name of duty.

The series consists of hard-core police procedural stories dealing with investigation, detection and suspense. The protagonists of the serial are an elite group of police officers belonging to the Crime Investigation Department of the police force, led by ACP Pradyuman (played by the dynamic Shivaji Satam). While the stories are plausible, there is an emphasis on dramatic plotting and technical complexities faced by the police. At every stage, the plot throws up intriguing twists and turns keeping the officers on the move as they track criminals, led by the smallest of clues!!

In 21 January 1998, Sony Entertainment Television and Fireworks Productions launched a weekly crime thriller called CID. CID set another record in 7 November 2004, when Mr B.P. Singh entered Guinness Book of World Records for canning an entire episode of CID named “THE INHERITANCE / C.I.D. 111″ in just one single shot of 111 minutes (one hour fifty one minutes) without a single cut.

In 3 January 2005 Sony Entertainment Television and Fireworks Productions launched a daily investigative thriller called CID Special Bureau, which had a run of 168 episodes. But unfortunately in 27 April 2006, it ended its CID Special Bureau.

CID is the longest running show in the history of [Indian Television] . It is a laborious effort of years by Fireworks Production, Mr. BP Singh, Mr.Pradeep Uppoor and their team of actors, writers and production. After its success CID’s producers had arranged an Award function named “CID Gallantry Awards” on Tuesday, 26 January 2010 at 9:00 pm IST on Sony Entertainment Television to celebrate their 12th anniversary.

The CID team currently comprises of ACP Pradyuman, Abhijeet, Daya, Fredricks, Vivek, Tasha, Dr.Taarika and Dr.Salunkhe. The actors – Shivaji Satham, Aditya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, Dinesh Phadnis and others, are the pillars of the show

Episodes

Some episode of C.I.D. starts with a member of the team describing the events of a crime, which is followed by the crime being occurred, and the C.I.D being called out to interrogate the case. Occasionally, while the crime is being committed, the team is usually having fun in the bureau; such as playing chess, talking about Cricket, or picking on Inspector Fredericks for his actions. The show assumes that in the city of Mumbai, police does not exist and for any crime the C.I.D. is directly contacted. The C.I.D. team then goes to the crime scene, and start their search for evidence. Actually the CID is called by the Mumbai Police when a crime is too complex to solve using local police station based resources, or when cross-jurisdictional issues are involved. Additionally the CID team has the best equipped forensic pathology lab, and the latest in computerized equipment, and ballistic tests machines. They also are directly linked to the National Fingerprint database and to Interpol‘s international crime database. Hence their added value in the series. They always believe in one statement: “Every criminal always leaves something behind”.

They search the setting until they find something, even the smallest thing, such as a strand of hair. The body, if it is a murder case, is taken to the forensic lab, where Dr. Salunkhe and his assistant, Dr. Tarika study the body. Dr. Salunkhe tells interesting things on how the person may have died. He may have been stabbed by a knife, but he may be killed by poison. The C.I.D. team interrogates all the witnesses. After a lot of hard work, which involves lot of driving, running around and Inspector Daya breaking at least one door in each episode, the C.I.D. team solves the case and catch the criminal.

Each episode ends with the C.I.D. members catching the criminal after some brief action with guns and a handful of punches and kicks (mostly delivered by Daya) and explaining the details of the crime. The criminal always denies the allegations till one of the C.I.D. member slaps him/her. In the next shot, he/she is seen to be sitting on a chair in the bureau and confessing everything while crying. Finally one of the officers (mostly the ACP) tells the criminal what likely punishment they will receive for this crime. Mostly, capital punishment is awarded to men criminals and life imprisonment to women except in a few episodes. Now in the newer episodes, a few women have been awarded capital punishment as well

Speacial cases

Doomsday

A mysterious person has been spotted near ACP. At first, no one gets any suspicion but then, that man informs Abhijeet that ACP was a terrorist. Of course, Abhijeet reacted harshly to this but later on, he starts to believe the man. Abhijeet arrests ACP but ACP tries to resist, forcing Abhijeet to kill ACP! The CID repent alot, escpecially Abhijeet. Things worsen when ACP’s dead body vanishes from the Forensic Lab.

 Senior Inspecor Abhijeet

Daya and Abhijeet have lunch at a restuarant. Over there, Daya meets an old friend of his. But upon seeing Abhijeet, she and her family freak out and horribly accuse him of murdering one of their family members (the girl’s elder brother) 15 years ago. Of course Abhijeet couldn’t remember what happened 15 years ago because of his amnesia cases. And when the girl’s younger and only surviving brother dies, their suspicion about Abhijeet grows stronger. Even ACP Pradyuman starts to have doubts about Abhijeet. Fortunately, Dr. Salunkhe proves Abhijeet innocence in the Forensic Lab but all this was already enough for Abhijeet. As a result, he resigns, not listening to CID’s plea to return. Has Abhijeet’s hardwork come to a crushing end? Is he gone for good? Or will Abhijeet return and solve the 15 year old case?

hahaha..good one! im a crazy CID fan here!

I love the way ACP Pradyuman leads his marvel team of Daya, Abhijit, Fredricks, Vivek and some random brave woman (usually Muskaan or Lavanya these days) with a zeal and madness to hunt down crime, mujrims, khoonis and bring them to justice at the end of every episode. And not to forget Dr. Salunkhe (the “Boss” man) who with his lady fellow docs (Tarika comes to mind at present) assist the team with their wizardy with science, medicine, nuclear studies and computer technology in their super equipped labs.

Check out my blog for more CID stuff guys :)

I really like CID.Can you pls tell me in which episode Kaveri died. Which was the last show of Lavanya. Which was the last show of Sudhakar.Which was the last show of Divyana.
I really want to know how they were removed from CID.
Also,I think CID was best during his old days when Daksh was there.I think Muskaan should be back. More chemistry is required between Abhijeet and Tarika….
pls, answer my questions. I relly love CID very much. specially DIG Shamsher Singh. Lol.

    • Taylor Swift Fan October 14, 2010 at 2:27 PM #

  19. Max October 15, 2010 at 5:16 PM #

Can you tell me where can I get the old episodes from 1998 to 2005 except Youtube.the wiki CID page says that Kaveri was Killed. Also want to know how & when Sudhakar,Muskaan, Anushka,Lavanya was transferred. The wiki page says that, they were transferred.
according to me,the best CID team would be-

    1.DIG Shamsher Singh
    2.DCP Baldev Raj
    3.ACP Pradyuman
    4. Snr. Ins. Abhijeet
    5. Ins. Daya
    6. Ins. Daksh
    7. Ins. Fredricks
    8. Sub Ins. Sudhakar
    9. Sub Ins. Muskaan
    10. Sub Ins. Tasha

I was watching CID from the last 3 years. CID is the only tv serial i watch. Akhri chunauti is the very best. I think it was needed few more episodes as you finished it in very urgency. I like Abhijeet most, and next Daya & Pradyuman. Oter team members also perform thier roles very well. Finally i thank all cid team and production team for giving us such a wonderful serial. CID ki jai ho.

  22. prabhupad November 17, 2010 at 12:14 AM #

i’m a great fan of cid.i love all its episodes.but i’m only curious about the fact who was senior muskaan or fredericks?please mail me.if muskaan the why fredericks doesnt calls her madam.if fredericks then why she doesnt calls him sir.if both were of same designate or post then why vivek calls fredericks sir and muskaan by her name.
2.if cid team would have been comprise of pradyuman, muskaan, freddy, vivek, lavanya, kaveri, devyana, tasha,dr.salunkhe, taarika and suppose abhijeet and daya were on leave or tour or might have gone to attend any official meeting and they would return after a month and will not have any communications with cid then which two officers or any one officer has the caliber or potential to take the position of abhijeet and daya out of the list of officers given by me above . please answer this two queries of mine along with reasons as fast as possible by mailing me.it wiil be kind of you
also are the officers that got transferred have any chances of returning once again by same name for eg alka verma returning to cid as muskaan.if possibke i would also like to be well known with it.
    thank you.
